The ministry of North Georgia Christian Camp began in 1966
when a few men became aware of the need for a specific
ministry to the youth of this area. They envisioned a summer |
program where youth could come together
for the purpose of learning about Jesus Christ and His great
gift of abundant life. In June of that summer, the first camp was
held at Unicoi State Park. The two week program was a great
success. Over the next four years the camp ministry
continued to grow, meeting at various places. In 1971 a
devoted Christian woman, Lora Kiss, donated 43 acres to be
used as a permanent Christian camp facility.
The camp buildings were erected and completed in late summer
of 1972. The first camp season on the new campgrounds of
North Georgia Christian Camp was held that August. Since
1972 the camp has flourished. The camp currently provides 12
summer camping events, as well as fall and spring retreats
for all ages.
Over the years renovations have been made and new structures
have been added. |
The
summer camp ministry now reaches over 700 children, ranging
from Kindergarten to 12th grade. The camp ministry has
expanded to include opportunities for everyone, year round.
However, the objective has never changed. This camp
exists to teach about Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, in
Whom we have life everlasting.
The camp is owned and supported by 28 Christian Churches
ranging from middle Georgia to Franklin, NC. These

donate their time,
talents, and money so the camp can continue to advance for
the Kingdom of God. The curriculum is Bible-based, and New
Testament Christianity is the foundation of our teaching.
Each season our teachers come from the supporting churches
to help young people and adults develop their spiritual,
