THE HEART OF THE CAMP & HOW IT RELATES TO WHAT CAMPERS ARE TAUGHT

NGCC occupies a bit of a unique circumstance in that we are not our own, completely independent organization, but we are and always have been a ministry of many different, independent Christian/Non-Denominational churches, each with their own statements of belief, core tenants, etc. The aim of the camp, and the aim of each of our supporting churches — is to see the world transformed for Christ. We all want to love God and love others, and in doing so, be a part of the healing of the sick, broken, messy, and lost.

That said, we are a camp for all people - believers and non-believers... We want all people to experience the goodness of God and the hope and salvation of Jesus Christ at our camp. It is our mission to provide a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can be challenged to grow in their faith of Jesus and realize their need for Him in their lives. We are looking to unify the body of Christ through our ministry, not divide it over doctrinal issues. And it’s not that we believe doctrine isn't important, because it is, but camp is brief, and campers show up with such varying degrees of understanding of the Gospel that we have found that the most worthy use of our brief time with campers is to make sure they are safe, that they are cared for and loved, and that they are taught and shown that there is one, awesome, good God who loves them so much that even though we don’t deserve it, and even though we continue to mess up — to be selfish and do things we know we shouldn’t do — that God’s son, Jesus, offers us forgiveness, grace, guidance, and hope for a better world — one that we get to be a part of building. Campers aren’t pressured to make decisions, and they’re not pressured to be baptized, though we’re happy to talk through these subjects with campers and their parents if questions arise. If you have any questions for us, don’t hesitate to ask! We’d love to speak to you.
